Electrical services in Venice
These are the Venice jobs we take. An address inside the city is not a Sarasota County permit.
Panel upgrades in Venice
Service changes and panel changeouts for island houses and older downtown homes. We pull the city permit, confirm the Florida Power & Light account, and schedule the disconnect before the panel comes off the wall.
Island and coastal circuits
Exterior panels, lighting, and circuits on Venice Island take salt air off the Gulf. Replacement gear is listed for that exposure.
EV charger circuits
Home EV circuits after a panel load check. A charger does not go in if the service cannot carry it.
Rewires and remodeling
Rewires, additions, and remodel circuits in Venice houses. Historic downtown work is scoped for the existing wiring, not assumed from the year on the tax roll.
Troubleshooting
Tripping breakers, partial power, dead circuits, and storm damage on scheduled Venice calls.
Small commercial
Tenant lighting and equipment circuits in downtown Venice. Larger jobs are walked before they are priced.
City of Venice permits stay at City Hall
An address inside the City of Venice is permitted through the City of Venice Building Department at 401 West Venice Avenue. Applications are electronic. The city is on the Florida Building Code 8th Edition (2023). An address outside the city limits, including parts of the Venice area that are unincorporated, goes through Sarasota County Planning and Development Services. We confirm the jurisdiction from the address before the permit is filed.
Most Venice accounts are Florida Power & Light. A panel change waits on that utility’s disconnect window. Venice Island and the downtown grid are in the service area. We do not list a Venice street address.

Venice electrician questions
Does Strange Electric have an office in Venice?
No. The shop is at 1904 Education Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Venice is a service city, not a second location.
Are you licensed for electrical work in Venice?
Yes. Strange Electric LLC holds Florida Unlimited Electrical Contractor license EC13014379 and is insured. That license covers residential, commercial, and industrial work in the City of Venice and Sarasota County.
Who permits a Venice electrical job?
The City of Venice Building Department if the address is inside city limits. Sarasota County Planning and Development Services if it is unincorporated. The licensed contractor pulls the permit when one is required.
Do you upgrade panels in Venice?
Yes. Panel changeouts are scheduled after we see the existing service and confirm the Florida Power & Light account. Island houses often need corrosion-rated exterior gear.
Do you install EV chargers in Venice?
Yes, when the panel can carry the circuit. We install the circuit and confirm the service. We do not install a charger the panel cannot support.
How do I get a Venice estimate?
Call 941-249-7297 or use strangeelectricllc.com/quote/. The estimate is based on the panel and the job, not a flat price given over the phone.
